Marketers are innately poised for change. They’re inclined to think creatively and move when the market demands. Still, when it comes to making the shift from the office building to the den, or basement, or even she/he-shed, it can still be unsettling. Regardless of a marketer's nimbleness, sudden environmental and culture change is never easy.

That's why HighRoad's marketing team is our next team up to provide Virtual Team Pro-tips.  Read what they have to say about working remotely.

The expression, and now world mantra, “we’re in this together” has become a shining beacon of assurance that we will in fact get through this together. A few short weeks ago, as our worlds turned upside downside, both personally and professionally, the team at HighRoad realized that if we were going to get through this and thrive, we were going to need to lean on each other for support and guidance. While not experts in the medical field, we have been virtual since the inception of the company and we decided to tap into our collective experiences to see how we could reach out and help our clients manage this turbulent “new normal”.

Many associations approach marketing automation (MA) from a purely cost-savings perspective. These associations look at the time and resources that go into their current marketing efforts, and they calculate what they could save if some marketing tasks were automated.

These associations are not wrong. If you use MA to handle some everyday marketing tasks, you will see some cost savings.

But if you don’t use MA as a springboard to greater transformation, you’re leaving money on the table.

Digital marketing, and marketing in general, has two central goals: acquisition (finding the right people and converting them to customers) and retention (keeping those people engaged with your brand or organization via consistent communication). Our goals as marketers within the association space are really no different. Using a variety of methods, from annual conferences to social media ads, we hope to attract the right people to join our association, and once we’ve captured their interest and information, we hope to provide them with valuable information to keep them engaged.

[Editor's note: As organizations make the transition to work from home, we're continuing to share our own insights and our experiences in the new virtual workforce reality.]

Well, I wish I had the answer to that Million Dollar Question! I don’t have all the answers, and I suspect it’s different for everyone. But I’m happy to share what I’ve learned being a full-time teleworker, especially now that times have rapidly shifted into a state where so many of us are working from our homes.
